About Us

Welcome to RAPS Hospitality

RAPS Hospitality Group was founded in 1949 by B.V. Patel, an innovative entrepreneur in the California hotel industry. He worked hard and started his business by purchasing a small hotel in downtown San Francisco. As his business grew, he started expanding to Berkeley, Sacramento, Stockton, Fairfield, and Oakland. B.V. Patel’s son, Raman, started taking over as his business grew and expanded to Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Seaside. At that time, RAPS Hospitality Group started acquiring major franchises like Comfort Inn and Howard Johnson branded hotels. When Patel retired from his business, Raman and his son, Pramod, continued to expand the hotels owned under RAPS Hospitality Group. During the 1990s, the Patel’s expanded even more in the Napa Valley, San Simeon, and Hayward area.

The investment strategy for each of the hotels is similar. First, they obtain a low-performing hotel in a good location. Then, they invest by remodeling the property as well as acquiring new skilled management. If necessary, they then acquire a national franchise to help the hotel grow.

Now, RAPS Hospitality owns and run numerous hotels in Central and Northern California. These include La Quinta Inn & Suites in Dublin, Comfort Inn Santa Cruz, Comfort Inn Castro Valley, Motel 6 Napa Valley, Mariposa Inn in Monterey, Red Roof Inn Rancho Cordova, Vagabond Inn Los Banos, and The Euro Hotel in Redwood City.

As the years went on, RAPS Hospitality has grown prosperously and ranked 76th out of the top 100 of hotel owners in the US. This three-generation, family-owned business has gained success all over the Bay Area.
